Local Places to Visit

There are so many places to visit within 30 minutes of our site - we’ve listed a few of our favourites below.

  • Mark (6 minutes drive) - quaint village with a local shop and post office, a bakery, two village pubs (Packhorse and White Horse) and small garage and workshop. There are various walks in and around the village, please see Walks section.

  • Brent Knoll (6 minute drive) - small village around The Knoll with a community shop, Red Cow pub in the village and Fox and Goose pub on the outskirts next to petrol garage and Spar shop. A must-do walk up The Knoll is featured in local walks section.

  • Burnham-on-Sea (8 minute drive) - our seaside town with various cafes, restaurants, shops and facilities including swimming pool. The promenade is a wide and safe 1 mile walk from one end to the other, which can be extended by taking the path at the Sailing Club end and onto Apex Park and Lakes, covered on Walks section. The beach spans for miles connecting with Berrow and Brean beaches; alternative access points onto Berrow and Brean beaches are noted on Walks section of this page.

  • Brean (15 minute drive) - with a golf course, swimming pool, leisure theme park and beach, Brean is a small but vibrant village in high season, with many eateries and entertainment. For those wanting to explore the quieter side of Brean, the National Trust walk of Brean Down features in our Walks section of this page.

  • Wedmore (15 minutes drive) - a fashionable small village with a small selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, a perfect stop off on the way to Cheddar, Wells or Glastonbury. It also has its own fishing lakes and golf course.

  • Wells (30 minutes drive) - the smallest city in England (and the set of Hot Fuzz!), Wells is packed with history and beauty; from the magnificent cathedral itself to the beautiful Bishops Palace and grounds, amongst the cobbled streets, packed with independent stores and eateries.

  • Cheddar (20 minutes drive) - a honeypot for visitors, Cheddar offers an abundance of independent shops, eateries and businesses including the cheese making, caves and of course The Gorge itself, featured on our Walks section.

  • Glastonbury (30 minutes drive) - famous for its festival, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey is always worth a visit for its panoramic views of the Somerset Levels.
